Working in Islington
Islington is Georgian and Victorian terraces, a great many of them subdivided into flats, and a long run of conservation areas. That combination produces a very particular job list: fire doors and closers inside period conversions, where the door has to satisfy a fire officer and a conservation officer at the same time, and sash window security that cannot be surface-mounted.
Converted terraces in Barnsbury, Canonbury and Highbury commonly have a shared front door and three or four flat entrance doors behind it. Restricted key suites make sense here: one key for the communal door that cannot be copied at a kiosk, and separate keys for each flat.
Upper Street, Holloway Road and Exmouth Market bring the commercial half: restaurants and bars needing kitchen extinguishers, blankets and panic hardware on final exits, and the shopfront boarding that follows a break-in on a busy street.
Full service in Islington. Call-outs, emergency entry and boarding up, plus all planned fire safety and security work.

New tenancy, lost keys, a relationship ended, a break-in, or an insurer asking for a standard you do not have. All the same job, done properly.

Locked out, keys gone, or a lock that has simply given up. We open it, usually without damage, and make it secure before we leave.

Questions about working in Islington
Can you fit fire doors in a listed or conservation-area conversion?
Yes. Certified doors can be specified in traditional panel styles and finishes, and where a replacement is not acceptable we will look at upgrading the existing door instead, seals, hinges, closers and intumescent protection often get an original door where it needs to be.
What is the best lock for a shared front door?
A restricted key system, so keys cannot be copied without authorisation. It costs a little more up front and saves rekeying the whole building when one set goes missing.
