Fire safety

Fire safety equipment, signage and cabinets

The rest of the kit: signage, stands, cabinets, covers and the small items that make a fire plan actually work on the floor.

Fire safety equipment, signage and cabinets

Extinguishers and blankets are the headline. The things that make them usable are signage people can read from across a room, a stand that stops a unit being kicked under a desk, and a cabinet that keeps weather and curious hands off equipment in a yard or a corridor.

We supply and install the whole supporting kit, usually on the same visit as the extinguishers, so the premises leaves our hands finished rather than half-done.

What we supply and fit

  • Identification and location signage: extinguisher ID signs, fire action notices, fire exit and directional signage, photoluminescent where there is no borrowed light.
  • Extinguisher stands: single and double, floor-standing, for glazed fronts, partitions and anywhere you cannot fix to a wall.
  • Cabinets: indoor and weatherproof external cabinets for yards, car parks, site compounds and public areas.
  • Call point covers and keys to cut malicious activations in schools, pubs and public buildings.
  • Fire buckets, sand buckets and stands where they are still the right answer.
  • Fire-rated letterboxes, door signage and intumescent accessories for flat entrance doors.
  • Document holders for the fire log, mounted where the brigade will look.

Signage that people can actually act on

Signage is cheap and gets treated as an afterthought, then on the day nobody can find the extinguisher because the sign is at knee height behind a coat rack. We mount identification signs above the unit at a height visible across the room, and fire action notices by the exits and the call points rather than in the back office.

For listed buildings, boutique hotels and well-finished interiors we will supply discreet signage that still does its job: same information, less shouting.

Fabrication where nothing fits

Old buildings rarely give you a flat wall at the right height. Where there is no sensible fixing, we fabricate: a bracket, a plinth, a timber plate scribed to the wall, a stand weighted so it will not tip. A carpentry, groundworks and building background means we make the part rather than ordering an approximation of it.

Questions we get asked about fire safety equipment

Do I legally need fire safety signage?

If you are responsible for a workplace, an HMO or any premises other than a single private home, you need signage that lets people find the escape routes and the firefighting equipment. The exact set depends on the building, and it is one of the first things a fire risk assessor will pick up on. We will tell you what is missing when we survey.

Can you supply equipment without installing it?

Yes: supply-only orders go out UK-wide, including signage packs and cabinets for sites with their own maintenance teams.

Do you fit external weatherproof cabinets?

We do, including for yards, compounds, car parks and marinas, with the correct fixings for brick, block, steel or timber, and locks where the equipment is at risk of walking off.

Can you match signage to our interior?

Within reason, yes. The information and the pictograms have to stay legible and correct, but there is more choice in finish and mounting than most people realise.
