Terms and conditions
About these terms
These terms cover your use of this website and the basis on which we give estimates. The terms for a specific job are set out in the quotation we send you, and where the two differ the quotation takes precedence.
Estimates and quotations
Estimates are free and are given in good faith on the information available to us. Where we have priced from a description or photographs rather than a site visit, the price may change if what we find on arrival is materially different: a frame that turns out to be rotten, a lock that has already failed internally, a door that has lost its rating. We will tell you before we carry out additional work, not afterwards.
Unless stated otherwise, a written quotation is valid for 30 days.
Access and authority
For any work involving entry to a property, we will ask you to demonstrate that you own it or are otherwise entitled to authorise the work. This is not a formality and we will not proceed without it.
Fire safety work
Servicing, commissioning and installation are carried out to the relevant manufacturer's instructions and to the specification agreed with you. A service record describes the condition of equipment on the date of inspection. It is not a fire risk assessment and does not replace one, and responsibility for the ongoing fire safety of premises remains with the responsible person for those premises.
Locks, entry and damage
We open locks without damage wherever it is practical to do so. Where damage is unavoidable, typically a lock that has already failed or a security cylinder performing as designed, we will tell you before starting and will quote the replacement.
Emergency and temporary work
Boarding up and other emergency work is intended to make a property secure and weatherproof until a permanent repair can be carried out. It is temporary by nature and should not be relied on indefinitely.
Payment
Payment terms are stated on the quotation and invoice. Title in any goods supplied remains with us until they have been paid for in full.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, our liability for any job is limited to the value of that job.
This website
The content here is general guidance about the work we do. It is not a substitute for a survey, a fire risk assessment or professional advice on your specific premises. The text, photographs and design of this site belong to Ren-Lock; the photographs are our own and are not licensed stock.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
